ROCS Documentation

System workflows, offline continuity standards, hardware configurations, and integration references for the Restaurant Ordering Cloud Service ecosystem.

1. Platform Architecture & Overview

System Reliability • Cloud + Edge Resilience

ROCS is engineered as a hybrid cloud-and-edge ecosystem designed specifically for the high-volume, low-latency demands of restaurant environments. Mission-critical counter and kitchen operations continue without interruption regardless of internet stability.

Secure Cloud Infrastructure

Delivers multi-location business intelligence, live menu updates, automated subscription billing, and real-time revenue analytics accessible from anywhere.

Resilient Counter & Kitchen Edge

Runs on your local registers and kitchen displays with local storage caching, instantaneous ticket dispatch, and automatic cloud reconciliation.

// ROCS Order Lifecycle Pipeline

Guest Storefront → Self-Service QR Ordering → Verified Diner Checkout

Counter POS → Offline-Ready Cache → Automated Sync → Live Kitchen Routing

Kitchen Display ← Real-Time Ticket Streaming ← Audible Chime Alert

Business Dashboard ← Consolidated Sales Metrics ← Multi-Unit Reporting

2. Point of Sale & Offline Continuity

Counter Operations • High-Throughput • Offline Continuity

The ROCS Point of Sale is built for counter speed, minimal cashier training, and continuous operation during peak lunch and dinner rushes.

Seamless Offline Order Capture & Automatic Sync

If an internet service provider outage occurs, the POS detects the disruption immediately and shifts to offline-ready mode. Cashiers continue ringing up orders, configuring modifiers, and processing payments as usual. Orders are securely preserved in local device storage and automatically reconcile with the cloud database the moment connection is restored—with zero manual re-entry.

Dining Room Floor Plan & Table Management

Custom table layouts allow staff to assign orders to physical seats, monitor dining room occupancy in real time (Available, Seated, Checkout), split tickets across guests, and transfer orders between tables seamlessly.

Fast Staff PIN Switching & Register Auto-Lock

Servers and cashiers switch sessions in under a second using 4-digit numeric PINs without logging out the station. Configurable inactivity timers automatically lock the screen after idle periods to protect drawer security.

3. Storefront & Table QR System

Digital Guest Ordering • Table QR • Mobile-First

The Customer Storefront gives diners a modern, branded ordering interface optimized for mobile browsers, supporting table self-service, pickup, and takeout with zero app download friction.

Instant Table QR Ordering

Diners scan table QR codes to access your live digital menu with their table automatically associated. Orders route directly to the kitchen, speeding up service and increasing table turnover by 20–30%.

Visual Modifier & Combo Engine

Intuitive customizers handle complex requests: topping additions, ingredient exclusions ("No Pickles"), temperature preferences, and multi-choice combo meal bundles with automatic upcharge calculation.

4. Kitchen Display System (KDS)

Paperless Kitchen Line • Real-Time Routing

The KDS replaces paper kitchen slips with high-visibility digital ticket cards organized by preparation stage, keeping the line organized during high-volume meal periods.

Sub-Second Order Streaming

Tickets stream directly from counter registers and table QR orders to kitchen line screens instantly, eliminating paper slip delays and lost tickets.

Color-Coded Prep Pacing & Alerts

Elapsed timers track prep time dynamically. Tickets visually change border color from Sky to Amber to Red as they approach or exceed target fulfillment thresholds.

One-Tap Bump Progression & Recall

Cooks advance tickets from Received → In Prep → Ready with a single tap. Completed orders remain accessible in the slide-out Recall Drawer for instant recovery.

5. Business Dashboard & Analytics

Central Backoffice • Executive Analytics • Menu Control

The Business Dashboard serves as the central administrative command center for restaurant owners, managers, and multi-unit restaurant groups.

Interactive Sales & Revenue Graphs

Monitor gross sales, net revenue, order volume, average spend per ticket, and hourly rush curves to optimize staffing and inventory.

Live Menu & Modifier Engineering

Update prices, modify dishes, or 86 sold-out ingredients in real time with immediate synchronization across all counter registers and digital storefronts.

Multi-Unit Brand Switching

Seamlessly switch between multiple restaurant stores or virtual concepts from a single login without needing separate account credentials.

Staff Roster & Access Control

Manage employee roles (Owner, Manager, Cashier, Kitchen), configure register PINs, and enforce least-privilege security across your team.

6. Role-Based Access & Data Isolation

Enterprise Security • Tenant Data Isolation

ROCS is built with strict architectural boundaries to safeguard merchant data and consumer privacy:

Enterprise Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)

Staff authentication strictly separates administrative privileges from operational register access. Managers control pricing and shift reports, while cashiers and line cooks operate under scoped permissions to prevent unauthorized discounts or refunds.

Complete Tenant Data Isolation

Every restaurant brand operates within an isolated tenant partition. Menu items, order histories, sales reports, and customer profiles are cryptographically partitioned and accessible only by authorized merchant credentials, preventing cross-tenant data exposure.

7. Hardware & Network Specifications

Terminal Specifications • Recommended Setup

Counter POS Terminals

  • • iPad (9th generation or newer) running iPadOS 16+
  • • Android Tablets (10"+ display, 4GB+ RAM)
  • • Commercial All-in-One Touchscreen POS stations
  • • Standard ESC/POS Ethernet or USB receipt printers
  • • 24V RJ12 cash drawers connected via receipt printer

Kitchen Line Displays (KDS)

  • • 10" to 24" commercial Android / ChromeOS displays
  • • High-brightness touchscreens or bump-bar controllers
  • • Integrated speakers for order arrival chimes
  • • Standard VESA 75/100 mounting arm compatibility
Network Recommendations: A dedicated 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi network (minimum 10 Mbps upload/download) is recommended for real-time ticket streaming and card authorizations. If Wi-Fi momentarily drops, counter registers automatically buffer orders locally and sync automatically upon reconnection.
